Taekwondo is a Korean self defence martial art. It was introduced to the world by General Choi Hong-Hi who is the father and founder of Taekwondo.
The martial art became formally recognised in 1955 with the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) being formed in 1966. Taekwondo can be described simply as a version of unarmed combat designed for self defence. Translated literally 'Tae' means to kick or smash with the foot. '
Kwon' is to destroy with the hand or fist. 'Do' means an art or way.
Our training takes place in the West London & Slough Areas. Please click on the training times page for more location info and class times.
Taekwondo is learnt in mixed classes of all ages and abilities. Training is non or light contact (certainly until higher skill levels and grades are reached) with no throwing or falling techniques. From early stages where simple punching and kicking techniques are learnt, students are gradually taught more complex techniques as they are promoted through the coloured belts to black belt.

"I chose the Slough Taekwondo Club as Declan is a great teacher and very inspiring - I have learnt a lot in a short space of time and Declan always has time to keep me in check. In our Club there are a variety of students both young and more mature, from beginner to senior belts. This makes for a great and fun class as I am able to learn from my more
experienced peers but also give back what I have learnt to those just starting out. There is something for everyone and would recommend anyone of any age to get involved."
